This was a lot of fun to work on. A live and intimate performance by Machines at Rain City Recorders in Vancouver. It’s like being in their jam space minus the headache. Coming in March.
Like a lot of Canadian kids I grew up on hockey. It basically defined the relationship I had with my dad. He coached my teams when I was a kid and took me to every game until I could drive. Even then he still met me there. We related everything to hockey. Conversations about hockey were actually about school, girls or whatever else a teenager needed to talk about. He passed away six years ago and I can still talk to him through any Canucks game. For me, this is hockey and I’m so happy it’s back!!
Machines are on a frosty cross-Canada tour right now with Skynet. This was taken the night before they left and minutes after they saw the “Oceans” video for the first time. I think it got Junior a little turned on! www.machinesfamily.com

This is my début music video (WAHOO. CLAPS). I’ve been photographing these guys since 2004 when they were Callahan. Lots of promo, studio, jamming, live and life photos but never a music video. No problem, videos are just moving pictures right?!? www.machinesfamily.com
The boys in Galgamex needed a photo for the back of their new album. They sent me this Slayer picture as inspiration so I figured like all inspiration photos, we would do our own version. Nope. They wanted a COPY. How’d we do? www.galgamex.bandcamp.com
As I was packing up in Toronto to make the drive back to Vancouver I got an email from 604 Records about this band ByStarlight. You interested in working with these guys? Hell ya. When we shot these promos the band was a four-piece, but with some cropping and little photo magic… voilà!!! Three-piece. www.604records.com/604/home/artists/bystarlight-0
This is the fiancé of a girl I took a few classes with. She asked me to do his promos ‘cause she was tired of doing it. Turns out he’s crazy talented. Lucky me. www.bradfillatre.com
I spent a few days at Rain City Studios this summer with Machines. They were recording their latest EP Maintenance. Members of Callahan and Savannah formed Machines in 2011. www.machinesfamily.com
Serena Pryne & the Mandevilles. Country Rock band from Niagra, Ontario. www.serenapryne.com
Galgamex. These guys are leading a world class metal scene here in Vancouver. Amazingly talented and innovative band. www.galgamex.bandcamp.com
What can I say about Zion? In Toronto I lived in an old Victorian house that was split into two apartments. Zion lived upstairs with his girlfriend. He’s a writer and actor. Sometimes I would hear him screaming and crashing around. I thought he was killing his Luisa, but no, just working on a scene. I miss Zion.
Former Callahan vocalist Chris Stiles fronting a new Vancouver metal band called WTCHDR. They’re deadly. www,wtchdr.bandcamp.com
This is a good example of “I shot her before she was famous.” At the time I had been shooting Carlie Wong’s fashion campaigns and Carly Rae Jepsen would often wear one of her gowns down the red carpet. Carlie Wong styled this shoot with her Fall 2010 collection. Little Ms Jepsen really is the nicest person and if anyone deserves success it’s her. www.carlyraemusic.com
This was for Look Magazine about 3 years ago. I had twenty minutes to photograph him and honestly, it was weird and a blur. But there he is, Eric McCormack in my portfolio!
